Born and raised among the beautiful vineyards of Stellenbosch, South Africa, I worked closely with my grandfather on the family farm where I learned about growing grapes and making wine. After graduating from Elsenburg Agricultural College with a degree in Viticulture and Wine Science, I worked for two wineries in the Stellenbosch area gaining experience in making prestigious wines. In 1999 I moved across the planet to the Old Mission Peninsula and kick-started my career making cool climate wines.
During my tenure as winemaker at a neighboring winery, I made several different international award winning wines and earned the reputation as a world class winemaker. My philosophy is that good wine is made in the vineyard, and a guiding hand in the cellar is all it takes to make quality wines.
