Zoinks! Is that cherry blossom and watermelon? I think I found some spice in the nose, too. Jinkies, that's one incredible mouthfeel. I can't believe the brightness and balance on the finish, either. Ruh roh, I might have just drunk the whole bottle...and I would have gotten away with it, tooo, if it wasn't for those meddling Lads.
We combines grapes from two Old Mission peninsula vineyards to create this wine. At the 3 Little Bears vineyard, the soils are sandy loam and gravel which help to develop immense aromatics and softer tannins. These are blended with grapes grown in area of the 2 Lads vineyard that gets full sun exposure, allowing for the development of wonderfully ripe fruit.
The grapes were hand harvested and gently crushed before being placed in a stainless steel tank for 36 hours of skin contact. Two different yeast strains were used for fermentation (one for each vineyard site) to enhance the unique characteristics of each location. The grapes from the 3 Little Bears vineyard were fermented dry, while the grapes from the 2 Lads farm were stopped at 1˚ Brix to balance the sweetness level. Fermentation was slow and cool, leading to more complex aromatics and a more delicate style of Rosé.
