"You don't know the power of the dark side!" Perhaps...but you can taste it in our new vintage of the D. Cuvée Pinot Noir. While there's plenty of finesse and elegance here, the D. Cuvée is more about showcasing the bigger, darker side of Pinot. Brambly blackberry, blueberry, and dark cherry fruit predominate, with rich cola, cedar, and baking spice not far behind. The finish is lengthy with textured tannins. If it's this good now, we can't wait to see what another 5-7 years in the bottle will bring. (Lightsabers optional.)
Cool spring. A warm summer was followed by early fall rains that necessitated picking early to avoid potential rot or disease set in the grape clusters. The fruit was sourced both from the 2 Lads farm and the Stone House vineyard; both lots were crushed and destemmed into our open top steel tanks for on-skin fermentation.
Fermentation lasted 21 days, after which the fruit was pressed and sent to barrel. The D. Cuvée is typically comprised of the 777 and 667 clones, which offer up darker fruit character.
